Providing residential childcare for over 30 years, we support every member of staff in their journey to achieving the Diploma qualification. The certificate remains with them throughout their career.

The level 4 qualification develops the knowledge and skills needed for working with children and young people in a residential childcare setting, including an understanding of child and young person development.

Our friendly team are on hand to support all employees throughout the duration of the course to ensure that they feel confident and prepared to pass the qualification.

Therapeutic Crisis Intervention

Social Care Services employs the principles and approaches of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention a training package devised by The Residential Child Care Project of the Family Life Development Centre at Cornell University.

Therapeutic Crisis Intervention is a comprehensive crisis management system, it aims to provide care staff with a range of skills and knowledge to prevent, de-escalate and manage acute physical behaviour often displayed by young people in the Looked After System.

All of our interventions with young people are relationship based and are founded upon the principles of a child centred, caring, nurturing approach through active listening. This helps build relationships with young people and develops mutual respect and dignity.

The skills, knowledge, and professional judgment of staff in responding to crises are critical factors in helping young people learn constructive and adaptive ways to deal with frustration, failure, anger, rejection, hurt, and depression.

Directors, Area Managers and Training Manager are Accredited Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Trainers ensuring the ethos of the program is embedded in our culture at all levels of the company.

Trainers are required to renew their accreditation through attending annual refresher training and competency testing. All staff complete a minimum of five days training which is regularly updated to ensure high standards of therapeutic and nurturing care are consistently maintained.
